We ask for as little as we need to answer your booking request, and we don’t sell it or use it to market to you. This notice explains the rest, as the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) requires.
Who we are
Protea Farm is the responsible party for the personal information you give us through this website. Our office is at 27 Bath Street, Montagu, 6720, and you can reach us on 023 614 3012 or info@proteafarm.co.za.
Our Information Officer handles privacy questions and requests. Write to info@proteafarm.co.za with “Privacy” in the subject line.
What we collect
- When you book: your name, email address, phone number, the country you’re travelling from, your dates, the number of people in your group and anything you tell us in the message box.
- To stop spam: Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a bot, is sending the form. It looks at technical details such as your browser and IP address.
- When you pay: payments are made by bank transfer or card outside this website. We never see or store your full card number.
If you book for children, we only ask how many there are and their age group. Please don’t send us more about them than we need.
Why we collect it
We use your information to answer your request, confirm your booking, take payment, tell you about changes such as a weather cancellation, and keep the records the law requires. We rely on your consent when you send the form, and on the need to carry out the booking you’ve asked for.
We won’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask us to.
Who we share it with
We share only what’s needed, with:
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website and runs the spam check.
- Our email provider, which delivers the booking emails.
- Our bank and accountant, for payments and records.
Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. We only use providers bound by data protection rules at least as strong as POPIA’s. We don’t sell or rent personal information.
How long we keep it
Booking requests that don’t go ahead are deleted within 12 months. Confirmed bookings and payment records are kept for five years, because tax law requires it, and then deleted.
Your rights
You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to us using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, though we may then be unable to complete a booking. Email us and we’ll respond within 30 days.
Cookies
This website doesn’t use advertising or tracking cookies. The spam check may set a small technical cookie to do its job. If we ever add visitor statistics, we’ll ask you first.
